The Pond of Reflection Coming in the Spring

Spike Productions is excited to announce we are in the creative works on a new BRP children’s story called, The Pond of Reflection. This story is a fun adventure fairy tale about a king’s daughter, (where the mighty and beloved king just happens to be a mouse), who rides off on her father’s steed on a quest to discover who she is. On her journey she befriends a toad and an owl who tell her about a legendary pond hidden deep within the forests of the king’s realm called The Pond of Reflection. Venturing on together, they learn about themselves and each other searching for this secret place.

Spike Productions is delighted to team up with Boulder artist Brooke Connor of Brooke Connor Design to illustrate this fun coming-of-age story.

The Basketful Relief Project (BRP) Is Ready to Start Donating to Yemen Famine Relief!

Happy New Year

Because of a generous donation to the BRP, as of January 8, 2020 both books: The Little Book of Why and Get to Bed! have met their publishing cost goal. Spike Productions is grateful and we in turn have kicked off the 2020 new year with our own donation to the BRP Save The Children Yemen famine relief fundraising page.

Now that we have successfully covered the publishing cost of these books, two wonderful things happen!

  1. From now on, 85% of profit proceeds will be donated to the BRP Save The Children Yemen famine relief fundraising page continually, as long as either book sells and the fundraising page is active.
  2. Spike Productions will create and publish another beautiful children’s story to add to the BRP selection! An adventure fairy tale called, The Pond of Reflection is now in the works!

Here’s a review of the financials for both books since they launched in September, 2019

Ready to buy a book so we can start funding Yemen famine relief in earnest?

Purchase The Little Book of Why on BookBaby for $21.68, and Get to Bed! on BookBaby for $23.27.

So How Are We Doing So Far?

It has been a few weeks since Spike Productions launched the Basketful Relief Project and we have begun to sell books. We aim to be completely transparent so you know where your hard-earned dollars are going should you purchase a book to help support emergency famine relief to millions of infants and children in Yemen. Here is our first financial update.

So how are we doing to date? (Updates to this graph every few weeks)

The Little Book of Why Financial Chart-2019
After a few weeks since we launched the Basketful Relief Project we have sold enough of the Little Book of Why books to be 11.8% of the publishing break-even cost.

Get to Bed Financial Chart-2019
After a few weeks since we launched the Basketful Relief Project we have sold enough of the Get to Bed! books to be 11.9% of the publishing break-even cost.

Once we break even, two wonderful things happen!

  1. From that point on, 85% of profit proceeds will be donated to the Spike Productions Save The Children Yemen famine relief fundraising page continually, as long as the books sell.
  2. Spike Productions will start the publishing of another beautiful children’s story to add to the Basketful Relief Project selection!

Even before we have met the break-even cost of production, Spike Productions has raised $25 for famine relief on our fundraising page. How can this be? Anyone who buys a book, pays extra than the cost of the book and allows us to keep the change, 100% of this gift is donated to our fundraising page.

This is fun! The stories are beautiful. Send us your email and you will receive a private link to watch/download the video versions narrated by professional story-teller Rachel Ann Harding. Enjoy endless hours of reading-time with your children while at the same time help support infants and children in Yemen who sincerely need our help.

Together, we can make this happen. Thank you.

How about purchase one or both books today, right now!

The Basketful Relief Project is On!

Buy one of our books on BookBaby now and help support emergency famine relief in Yemen!

Spike Productions is excited to announce the launching of its Basketful Relief Project (BRP). We are collaborating with artists of all talents to write, illustrate, compose and story-tell to publish beautiful children stories for all ages in hardcover and e-book format, as well as full-production video. The goal? To help fund crisis famine relief around the world. How? Eighty-Five percent of profit proceeds from book/video sales through the BRP will go to organizations directly dealing with emergency famine relief.

Currently as we launch BRP, Spike Productions is focusing specifically on famine relief in Yemen through the Save the Children organization.

Yemen is in Crisis

Embroiled in civil conflict since 2011 and civil war since 2015, Yemen is experiencing the world’s worst man-made humanitarian disaster. As war continues, the UN says it is on the brink of the world’s worst famine in 100 years. Twenty-two million people are in urgent need of help, half of them children who are facing a triple threat – hunger, disease and bombs on a daily basis. Save the Children estimates more than 100 young children are dying from extreme hunger every single day.

Spike Productions wants to help and the Basketful Relief Project (BRP) is our answer to the question: how? And you are invited to join us!

The Basketful Relief Project (BRP) is a Win – Win

Spike Productions desires to include all who want to help out with BRP. Here is how we envision this will work:

  • Spike Productions collaborates with writers, illustrators, musicians and storytellers to create beautiful children stories in both book and video format. All collaborators are fully paid.
  • Spike Productions publishes each story through Book Baby to sell in national and world markets, in print and e-book format.
  • Spike Productions has set up a BRP Save The Children fundraising page specifically for emergency famine relief in Yemen and will donate (hopefully monthly!) 85% of sales profit-proceeds to this fundraiser. Spike Productions and collaborators will also receive specific percent profit proceeds from sales out of the remaining 15%.
  • The BRP Save The Children fundraising page for emergency famine relief in Yemen is not a one-time fundraiser but will be ongoing, refreshed annually until there is a decision to terminate. We sincerely hope we can successfully and continually fundraise through our BRP efforts for years to come until there is no more need for emergency famine relief in Yemen!

Collaborators win because there is not only an accessible platform for their talent, they have zero risk and only profit. They are fully compensated for their time and expertise, and if the book profits, they will also receive a % of the profit. Also, publishing with Book Baby, collaborators maintain ownership of their intellectual property.

Children win because the the mission of the BRP is to continually sponsor organizations that have a notable track record for cost-effective critical children care around the world, like Save The Children. And, we are doing this in a way that fills lives with beautiful children stories for all ages!

Spike Production wins because we feel seizing the opportunity to apply our own talents and knowledge to benefit others, especially infants and children in critical need, is a risk well worth taking.

How you can help:

  1. Buy our BRP books and videos and encourage your friends and family to do so too. The more we sell the more we donate!
  2. Spread the word about BRP and share the link to: this website, where our books and videos are sold and the BRP Save The Children fundraising page
  3. Make a direct donation to the BRP Save The Children fundraising page
  4. Become a collaborator and be a part of the journey!
